Willow by Christina’s natural baskets are hand woven using UK grown willow, other plant fibre materials, or a complimenting mixture of both.
Christina purchases her willow from UK companies who for generations have grown this wonderful and versatile material for weaving, and she is happy to be supporting these businesses whilst weaving her own natural products.
Using other plant materials in her work also is an area Christina is exploring more and more, gathering leaves/stems grown in her garden or sensibly foraged on her walks for twining, twisting and weaving. Using materials like this gives Christina the opportunity to engage with new textures and creative ideas, whilst connecting more deeply with her natural surroundings.
Each vessel or piece woven is unique. Whether functional or more decorative Christina embraces this slow craft using traditional skills, and rather than working to commission, she works with the seasons and materials available to her.
